‘‘Addiction Free and Healthy Youth’’ activist RK Viswajit Singh of Manipur selected for Professor Yashwantrao Kelkar Youth Award - 2016

The ‘Yuva Puraskar 2016 Selection Committee’ has declared the nomination of Shri RK Viswajit Singh (Social Activist & Founder, Animal Gym, Manipur) for the prestigious ‘Professor Yashwantrao Kelkar Youth Award 2016’. This selection has been made in recognition of his pioneering work in “Fighting against drug-addiction among youth and HIV/AIDS through regular exercise and maintaining good moral character through spiritual engagement

This award is given in the memory of Late Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar whose contribution was like a foundation stone to build up and flourished Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the world’s largest student organization. This award has been given since 1991. This is a collaborative activity of ABVP and ‘Vidyarthi Nidhi Trust, both committed for the cause of upliftment of education and students.’ 

Shri RK Viswajit Singh will be felicitated with the Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Yuva Award of 2016 on 24th December 2016, during the grand Inauguration of the 62nd National Conference of ABVP scheduled to be held 24th to 27th December 2016 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The idea behind this award is to encourage young social workers, engaged in various social welfare activities and to offer them a platform, thereby to motivate other youth for social work as well as to express gratitude to the young social workers. The award comprises of Rs 50000/- cash, certificate and a memento.

Shri RK Viswajit Singh is a physical fitness trainer and an award- winning social activist. Through his organisation named Animal Gym in Manipur, he has done praiseworthy work in pulling hundred of youth out of drug addiction and inspiring thousands of youth to fitness. A follower of Swami Vivekananda, Shri Viswajit is on mission of ‘Healthy Youth and De-addiction’ by inculcating good moral character through spiritual engagement. Many people with HIV/AIDS have also benefited from his initiative. In past, many social and public organizations have awarded him of the contribution to the cause of addiction free healthy youth.
